Today Clinical Class in Endodontics was taken by
Dr Nitin Singh. The topic of discussion was midline Diastema closure. Diastema
or spacing in upper front teeth is a common complaint of patients. The technique
was first taught in detail where shade selection, mock up and finishing of
composites was emphasized. First tooth should be contoured, finished and
polished before we start on the second tooth. The use of Mylar strip when
applying material to second tooth was taught. The students were then shown a
video of the procedure. This was followed by a demonstration of midline
diastema closure. A doubt clearing session was later held after which the
students then performed the procedure on patients. All patients and instruments
are provided by the institute to the patients.
A 58 year old man Mr Mohan Lal visited the
clinic with pain in left upper and lower region of jaw. Root canal treatment
was carried out in both teeth and caps placed. The patient is now able to chew
properly, without any pain.
A 30 Year old lady Mrs Anita came to the clinic with
missing tooth in upper left region of the jaw her teeth were replaced with
artificial crowns and bridge. The patient is now able to chew properly.
A student of clinical course, Dr Mahima is practicing
rotary endodontics. She joined the institute a month back and is now confident
with root canal treatment and crown cutting.
A student of clinical course, Dr Anjali is treating
a patient. The patient has multiple restorations to be done.
A 67 years old man Mr Ram Chander Saini came to
the clinic with loss of teeth in upper jaw. He was given a removable denture to
improve his appearance and aid in chewing food.
