Clinical Certificate Course Periodontics At Ahead Academy New Delhi

Clinical class in periodontics was conducted today at Ahead Academy, New Delhi. Students were shown many clinical cases. Crown lengthening, flap surgeries, papilla preservation flap were taught to the students. Different types of bone grafts were also discussed in detail. Bone grafting, placing bone or bone substitutes into defects created by the disease process, acts like a scaffold upon which the body generates its own, new bone. A wide range of bone grafting materials, including bone grafts and bone graft substitutes, have been applied and evaluated clinically, including autografts, allografts, xenografts, and alloplasts. Auto grafts and allo grafts were taught to the students at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi.

A 54 year old male came to the clinic with loose lower front teeth. A procedure known as “splinting” was performed. Gum disease is the main cause of loose teeth in adults and of tooth loss. Gum disease, if left untreated will result in the loss of the surrounding tissues that hold teeth in place. Teeth that have become loose because of lost gum tissue can benefit from a technique called periodontal splinting which attaches weak teeth together, turning them into a single unit that is stable and stronger than the single teeth by themselves. The procedure is most commonly performed on the front teeth. The procedure is as simple as using composite material to attach, or splint, the loose teeth to the adjoining stable teeth. Tooth splinting is a common procedure that has gained popularity due to its effectiveness. The patient’s teeth were joined together so that they stop moving. Many such patients visit the centre and get their treatment and the treatment of their family members.
