Clinical Certificate Course General Dentistry In New Delhi

In clinical class in oral surgery for new batch, the principles of tooth extraction were discussed. The indications and contraindication of trans-alveolar extraction were explained to the students. The students were motivated to study and came for the clinical classes. The parts of an implant were demonstrated to the students. Dental implants are being used for 53 years for prosthetic treatment of partially or fully edentoulous people. Dental implants have components

The dental implant:
This is part that is placed in the bone and is located under the gum line. The implant is Osseo integrated after 3 month of healing time. During that time bone cells grow in the implant surface, making it strong and able to support the load of the tooth that will be placed on the top.

The abutment:
The abutment is placed usually in the implants a few months after its placement. It is screwed in place and is used to support the prosthesis.
Every implants has specific type of abutment to go with it. The parts fit perfectly to the implant top and that gives to the prosthesis the nessesary stability. We are also able to fabricate custom made abutment as well as abutment made out of ceramic material for high-esthetic cases.

The prosthesis:
This is the crown, bridge or denture that is supported by the implant. The prosthesis can be cemented on the abutment or screw retained.

As a part of clinical course in Prosthodontics, clinical class was held at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi. The parts and procedure of post and core were taught to the students in detail. They were then shown the instruments and the kit.A post and core is a prosthetic device that is utilized when there is inadequate tooth structure remaining to support a traditional restoration or an artificial crown. A post and core is indicated when a large part (or all) of a tooth's original crown structure has been lost. The crown structure can be damaged either due to the progression of dental decays or because of a tooth trauma. The classes as part of clinical course are conducted with a clinical point of view. The students are taught how to handle different cases in the clinic independently.

In Endodontics class at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi, the topic of discussion was ‘perforation repair’. The students were then demonstrated the procedure of perforation repair in detail. Perforation is an artificial communication between the root canal system and supporting tissues of the teeth. Root perforation complicates the treatment and deprives the prognosis if not properly managed. A wide variety of materials to seal the perforations were discussed.

Always small perforation apical to the crestal bone which is closed immediately will have a good prognosis. Factor that is under the control of operator is the choice of material to be used that enhances treatment outcome. Traditionally Amalgam, EBA, Calcium phosphate, Cavit were used as root repair material. Information about the new materials introduced is essential to determine its advantages and disadvantages.

Sometimes a root canal has been performed to remove infected nerve or pulp from the interior of the affected tooth. Other times a titanium post and specialized cement may be used to strengthen a cracked or broken tooth. In either case, a temporary crown is usually placed over the remainder of the treated tooth. This is done to protect it for a short but important period of time until the permanent dental crown can be placed.

A 32 year lady came to AHEAD Academy, New Delhi with a complaint of discoloured crown in front region. The patient had to attend a wedding the same day. A temporary crown for prepared for her and placed. The woman was extremely glad with the procedure. She has been recalled to place the final crown.
