Endodontics Clinical Certificate Course at Ahead Academy

Today class in Endodontics was held at AHEAD Academy. Bleaching was topic of discussion; two types of bleaching vital and non-vital were discussed. Non vital bleaching is of two types- walking bleach and power bleaching. Walking bleach uses sodium perforate and Hydrogen peroxide. Vital bleach is of two type- Night Guard bleach and In- Office bleach. Pre-operative and post-operative instrument should be given to the patients. The patient’s pre-operative photograph and tooth shape must be recorded. Using prophylactic paste following bleach is contra indicated. All surfaces should be cleaned with pumice & rubber cup. The technique of placement of material was demonstrated to the students. The practical aspects were discussed in detail. Pole office bleach and zoom advanced bleach was shown to the students.

A 36 year old lady, Pushpa came to the clinic with a cavity in upper right region of the jaw. Her root canal treatment was done and cap was placed. This improved her appearance and will aid in chewing food.

A 44 year old female Hemlatha came to the clinic with pain in lower front teeth. On talking x-rays and examination, it was deeply carious and had to be cleaned and filled.

Endodontics class as part of Clinical Certificate Course was conducted today. Etching techniques were explained. In total etch technique, the smear layer is removed. In self-etch technique, the smear layer is preserved. Bond strength is poor in self-etch technique. In total etch, fresh dentin is exposed and bond strength is good.

A 63 year old male, Ranjeet came with missing teeth. His impressions were taken and dentures will be placed.

Extraction of a molar in a patient is going on at our centre. The tooth was decayed and could not be saved.
