Free Patients Treatment In chandigarh

A 27-yr male patient reported at AHEAD, Mohali with a request for aesthetic treatment of black gums. .A pleasing appearance often means the difference between success and failure. Hence the mouth, being one of the focal points of the face, the smile plays a major role in how we perceive ourselves, as well as in the impressions we make on the people around us. ‘Aesthetics’ is the science of beauty, Aesthetic or cosmetic dentistry strives to merge function and beauty with the values and individual needs of every patient. Melanin hyperpigmentation is an overproduction of melanin, beyond the normal expected degree in the oral mucosa, induced by various causes. The gingiva is the most frequently pigmented areas in the oral cavity.
This case was selected as the patient was physically healthy with no history of systemic disease, patient presented with a greater degree of gingival pigmentation compared to her skin colour and was very conscious about esthetics. Based on that, a decision was taken to do an anterior depigmentation by “Surgical Stripping”. Gingival depigmentation is a periodontal plastic surgical procedure whereby the gingival hyperpigmentation is removed or reduced’. Depigmentation is a procedure to meet demands of patient for improved esthetics and is recommended after periodontal health is restored. An adequate thickness of periodontal tissue is a pre-requisite. One of the first and still popular techniques to be employed is the surgical removal of undesirable pigmentation using scalpel. It is a simple and effective technique. The procedure essentially involves split thickness excision of superficial pigmented epithelium. The new epithelium that forms is devoid of melanin pigmentation. The patient was recalled after 2 weeks and he was satisfied with the treatment done.

Counselling of students is going on at AHEAD Academy, Mohali. Counselling is provided for all foreign courses and MDS entrance exams. Most people have heard that heart disease is the leading cause of death in America today. But how do we know this fact to be true? Back in 1948, when a lot wasn't known about the factors leading to heart disease and stroke, a health research study -- known as the Framingham Heart Study -- was done on 5,209 people living in the town of Framingham, Mass. These participants hadn't developed any known symptoms of cardiovascular disease and hadn't had a stroke or heart attack. They agreed to be followed over a period of time to help researchers learn what factors lead to both conditions.

Clinical Certificate Course General Dentistry In New Delhi

In clinical class in oral surgery for new batch, the principles of tooth extraction were discussed. The indications and contraindication of trans-alveolar extraction were explained to the students. The students were motivated to study and came for the clinical classes. The parts of an implant were demonstrated to the students. Dental implants are being used for 53 years for prosthetic treatment of partially or fully edentoulous people. Dental implants have components

The dental implant:
This is part that is placed in the bone and is located under the gum line. The implant is Osseo integrated after 3 month of healing time. During that time bone cells grow in the implant surface, making it strong and able to support the load of the tooth that will be placed on the top.

The abutment:
The abutment is placed usually in the implants a few months after its placement. It is screwed in place and is used to support the prosthesis.
Every implants has specific type of abutment to go with it. The parts fit perfectly to the implant top and that gives to the prosthesis the nessesary stability. We are also able to fabricate custom made abutment as well as abutment made out of ceramic material for high-esthetic cases.

The prosthesis:
This is the crown, bridge or denture that is supported by the implant. The prosthesis can be cemented on the abutment or screw retained.

As a part of clinical course in Prosthodontics, clinical class was held at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi. The parts and procedure of post and core were taught to the students in detail. They were then shown the instruments and the kit.A post and core is a prosthetic device that is utilized when there is inadequate tooth structure remaining to support a traditional restoration or an artificial crown. A post and core is indicated when a large part (or all) of a tooth's original crown structure has been lost. The crown structure can be damaged either due to the progression of dental decays or because of a tooth trauma. The classes as part of clinical course are conducted with a clinical point of view. The students are taught how to handle different cases in the clinic independently.

In Endodontics class at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi, the topic of discussion was ‘perforation repair’. The students were then demonstrated the procedure of perforation repair in detail. Perforation is an artificial communication between the root canal system and supporting tissues of the teeth. Root perforation complicates the treatment and deprives the prognosis if not properly managed. A wide variety of materials to seal the perforations were discussed.

Always small perforation apical to the crestal bone which is closed immediately will have a good prognosis. Factor that is under the control of operator is the choice of material to be used that enhances treatment outcome. Traditionally Amalgam, EBA, Calcium phosphate, Cavit were used as root repair material. Information about the new materials introduced is essential to determine its advantages and disadvantages.

Sometimes a root canal has been performed to remove infected nerve or pulp from the interior of the affected tooth. Other times a titanium post and specialized cement may be used to strengthen a cracked or broken tooth. In either case, a temporary crown is usually placed over the remainder of the treated tooth. This is done to protect it for a short but important period of time until the permanent dental crown can be placed.

A 32 year lady came to AHEAD Academy, New Delhi with a complaint of discoloured crown in front region. The patient had to attend a wedding the same day. A temporary crown for prepared for her and placed. The woman was extremely glad with the procedure. She has been recalled to place the final crown.

Endodontics Clinical Course At Ahead Academy New Delhi

In today’s clinical class in endodontic at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi, the topic of discussion was “ledges in Root canal Treatment (RCT)”. The students were taught ways to prevent ledges. Failure to grasp the rationale behind cleaning and shaping concepts can increase the occurrence of needless complications, such as ledges. A ledge is created when the working length can no longer be negotiated and the original pathway of the canal has been lost. Extension of the access cavity to provide unobstructed access to the root canals, precurving and not forcing instruments, using NiTi files, using passive step-back and balanced force techniques, and instrumenting the canal to its full length will all help to prevent ledge formation. Initial negotiation and bypassing the ledge can be achieved using a small file with a distinct curve at the tip, whereas a slight rotation motion of the file combined with a ''picking'' motion can often help advance the instrument.
Irrigation plays the main role in eradication of microbes from the root canal system, while root filling is important in an effort to eliminate the possibility of reinfection. Instrumentation, irrigation, locally used disinfecting agents, and root filling (sealer) all contribute to the killing and removal of microbes from the infected root canal, with irrigation regarded as the most important factor. The next topic for the new batch at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi was “irrigation in RCT”. Sodium hypochlorite and its mechanisms were explained to the students.

A 20 year old boy came to AHEAD Academy, New Delhi with a history of accident three months back. Angle fracture was seen on examination. Angle fractures occur in a triangular region between the anterior border of the masseter and the poster superior insertion of the masseter. These fractures are distal to the third molar. Angle fractures are often unfavourable because of the actions of the masseter, temporalis, and medial pterygoid muscles, which distract the proximal segment super medially.

Inter maxillary fixation (IMF) was performed and IMF screws were placed in the lower jaw. Today the patient came with pain in the lower jaw, so the screws were removed. Intermaxillary fixation (IMF) is an age old procedure which is used for treatment of fractures involving maxillomandibular complex. Conventionally various types of tooth mounted devices like arch bars, dental and interdental wiring, metallic and nonmetallic splints are used to achieve intermaxillary fixation. The use of dental arch bars and intermaxillary fixation screws are the two primary methods for achieving intermaxillary fixation.

Clinical Certificate Course Periodontics At Ahead Academy New Delhi

Clinical class in periodontics was conducted today at Ahead Academy, New Delhi. Students were shown many clinical cases. Crown lengthening, flap surgeries, papilla preservation flap were taught to the students. Different types of bone grafts were also discussed in detail. Bone grafting, placing bone or bone substitutes into defects created by the disease process, acts like a scaffold upon which the body generates its own, new bone. A wide range of bone grafting materials, including bone grafts and bone graft substitutes, have been applied and evaluated clinically, including autografts, allografts, xenografts, and alloplasts. Auto grafts and allo grafts were taught to the students at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi.

A 54 year old male came to the clinic with loose lower front teeth. A procedure known as “splinting” was performed. Gum disease is the main cause of loose teeth in adults and of tooth loss. Gum disease, if left untreated will result in the loss of the surrounding tissues that hold teeth in place. Teeth that have become loose because of lost gum tissue can benefit from a technique called periodontal splinting which attaches weak teeth together, turning them into a single unit that is stable and stronger than the single teeth by themselves. The procedure is most commonly performed on the front teeth. The procedure is as simple as using composite material to attach, or splint, the loose teeth to the adjoining stable teeth. Tooth splinting is a common procedure that has gained popularity due to its effectiveness. The patient’s teeth were joined together so that they stop moving. Many such patients visit the centre and get their treatment and the treatment of their family members.

Online live Classes Are Regularly Conducted At Ahead Academy

Online live classes are regularly conducted at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi and Mohali. These classes are attended by students preparing for MDS and foreign exams. Today online live lecture was held at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi. The topic of discussion was “fungal infections and skin pathology”. Fungal infections are becoming more frequent because of expansion of at-risk populations and use of treatment modalities that permit longer survival of these patients. Some of the changes in endemic fungal infections can be attributed to climate changes, extension of human habitats, ease of travel, and shifting populations. Today, fungi previously considered nonpathogenic, including mucoraceous genera (formerly called zygomycetes) and a variety of both hyaline and dematiaceous molds, are commonly seen in immunocompromised patients. The class was attended by many students online. Two students who are preparing for DCM (Dental Council of Mauritius) exam also attended the class.

In today’s clinical class in prosthodontics at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi, taken by senior faculty many topics were discussed. The importance of occlusal records was emphasized. The students were also shown different prosthodontic materials. Interocclusal records are the means whereby the inter-arch relationships are transferred from the mouth to an articulator. Interocclusal records are the most important maxillomandibular records used to transfer interarch relationships from the mouth to an articulator. Accurate interocclusal records minimize the need for intraoral adjustments during prosthesis delivery and are essential in providing high-quality fixed restorations and reducing overall treatment time and cost.
Ideal requirements of bite registration material are:
• The materials should offer limited resistance before setting to avoid displacing the teeth or mandible during closure, whereas after setting, it should be rigid or resilient, with minimal dimensional change.
• It should be easy to manipulate with no adverse effects on the tissues involved in the recording procedures.
 •   It should accurately record the incisal and occlusal surfaces of teeth.

•    A very important feature - it should be verifiable.

Clinical Certificate Course Prosthodontics In Delhi

As a part of Clinical Course in Prosthodontics, class in Prosthodontics was conducted at AHEAD Academy, New Delhi Centre. The topic of discussion was fixed partial denture. Different types of pontics were taught to the students. Indications and advantages of immediate dentures were discussed. The immediate denture is a dental prosthesis constructed to replace the lost dentition, associated structures of the maxillae and mandible and inserted immediately following removal of the remaining teeth.
Cu-sil dentures were also explained to the students. Cu-Sil is the premiere technique for partial dentures. Cu-sil denture is basically a complete denture with holes allowing the remaining natural teeth to emerge through the denture. The holes are surrounded by the gasket of silicone rubber which clasps the neck of natural teeth, which allows a natural suction to form under the denture.

A demonstration of tooth preparation was given to the new batch of students. After that students practiced tooth preparation on many patients. The faculty then cleared the doubts of students to improve their preparations. The four main categories of crown were metal, ceramic, metal-ceramic and composite. Tooth preparations need to reflect the different requirements of these materials in terms of amount of space needed to accommodate the crown and its marginal configuration. Tooth preparations also need to be free from undercuts whilst reliably retaining the crown.

Clinical class in endodontics was conducted today at AHEAD ACADEMY, New Delhi. The topic of discussion was Re-RCT (Root Canal Treatment). A root canal retreatment may be necessary if a previously root canal treated tooth fails to heal or if a recurrent infection is evident. Today, well-trained general dentists and root canal specialists alike can most of the times perform non – surgical endodontic root canal re-treatment which is very cost effective, time saving and quite predictable as compared to other treatment alternatives like tooth extraction. But at times the root canal failure case cannot be re-treated by non-surgical methods. In these cases it’s important to use surgical endodontics to re-treat a root canal failure case preferred over tooth extraction. The students were taught the instruments and the technique of performing (Root Canal Treatment) in failed RCT cases. The RCT materials used for removing gutta percha were elaborated. A video was shown and the procedure was then demonstrated to the students.

Rotary Endodontics at Ahead Academy New Delhi

Clinical Courses in Dentistry are regularly conducted at AHEAD Academy. New Delhi and Mohali. All patients are provided by the institute to the students.

A case of rotary endodontics was started today by a student of the previous batch, Dr. Sneha. After practicising Root Canal Treatment (RCT) with hand files, the students are demonstrated rotary endodontics by the experienced faculty, followed by treatment of the patients.

Clinical class in endodontics was held today at AHEAD academy, New Delhi. Students were shown instruments for rotary endodontics and then demonstrated on extracted teeth. The students then practiced rotary endodontics on extracted and typhodont teeth. Rotary Shaping instruments are replacing the conventional hand file systems to enhance shaping ability of the canal, reduce clinical mishaps like blocks, ledges, transportations and perforations. There are various Rotary shaping instruments that are available in the markets. Rotary endodontics employs electrically-powered instruments to perform the root canal treatment rather than traditional stainless-steel manual files. The electric hand tool is equipped with a tip of nickel titanium – a material that is five times more flexible than stainless steel. Due to the flexibility and unique movement of the nickel-titanium instrument, it can be inserted deeply into a curved root canal without stretching or damaging the passageway. The concepts, strategies and techniques for successful use of instruments were explained to the students.
